A New Support Hub for Young People in Cambridge
You can find out more about Centre 33 at www.centre33.org.uk.
From Clarendon Street to a New Community Hub
Since 1981, Centre 33 has been based at 33 Clarendon Street in central Cambridge — a building filled to the brim with services and passionate staff. It’s long been a place where young people can turn for help, whether they’re struggling with mental health, caring responsibilities, housing, or just need someone to talk to.
Now, with the purchase of a much bigger premises in Cambridge, there’s a real opportunity to create a space that better reflects the scale and ambition of their work. On a visit to the new site last weekend, Graham from our team saw first-hand the potential of the space – and heard about the exciting vision for its future.
Designed with Young People at the Centre
Graham met with Harriet Millward, Centre 33’s Director of Development and Partnerships, who shared early plans for the building. These include dedicated spaces for one-to-one support, group work, and team offices – all with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusivity.
Importantly, young people are involved at every stage of the planning process. Their voices are helping shape how the space looks, feels, and works, ensuring it truly meets their needs.
Stories That Stay With You
During the visit, Graham also watched powerful short films made by young people who have accessed Centre 33’s services – including young carers. Their stories were deeply moving, showing just how much of a difference the right support can make.
Centre 33 is a key member of our local Carers Partnership Board, helping ensure that young carers are not only heard, but that their experiences shape the decisions and services that affect them.
We’re excited to see how Centre 33’s new home develops – and the difference it will make to young people across Cambridge and beyond.
