Investing in Volunteers Award

This month we received the news that we have been awarded a renewal of the Investing in Volunteers Award. This is a UK quality standard for organisations working with volunteers and helps assess and improve the quality of our volunteer management. This marks us holding the accreditation for over five years.

Jess Slater, CEO at Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough:

"We are delighted to have our Investing in Volunteers Award renewed once again. This national accreditation is a real mark of quality and demonstrates our continued commitment to valuing, supporting and involving our volunteers in meaningful ways. Our volunteers are the heart of our organisation; they bring energy, their own lived experience, their skills and dedication to everything we do, helping us improve health and social care across the region. This recognition is a reflection of their incredible work and the strong volunteer culture we have built together."

Heather Lord, Volunteer Manager at Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough:

"We are very proud of this award - to have our accreditation renewed is fantastic and recognises our commitment to managing and ensuring our volunteers receive an outstanding volunteering experience - whether that's through training or helping our volunteers to develop new skills personally and professionally."

"We could not do our work here at Healthwatch without our volunteers. This award is therefore also a testament to our wonderful team of volunteers living in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area, who all put in a lot of work as part of the award assessment process. Thank you!"

Our volunteers give up their time to make health and social care better for everyone - from attending community events and listening to patients' stories to taking part in research projects. We also have a young person's Healthwatch group, called Youthwatch, and a series of dedicated adult social care groups where volunteers with lived experience help to share people's local social care experiences too (called Partnership Boards).
